You don’t need to have a publishing company to register a song with a performing rights organization.

You can register as a writer with a PRO such as ascap or bmi. [url=http://www.ascap.com]http://www.ascap.com[/url] [url=http://www.bmi.com]http://www.bmi.com[/url] just download the apropriate forms from the site (they’re in .pdf formater) and mail them in. Once they send you a welcome packet, you can register you songs with them online in the members area with the username and password they send you.
