Hi, and greetings from Rego Park, NYC!
I’m a singer-songwriter/guitarist, writing in numerous styles.  I have a website http://www.leighharrison.com which has my basic info, and there’s a page for each of my two CD’s.  The first one is “Eclectic Chanteuse,” and the 2nd one is soon-to-be-released (I hope) but I already sell my CD’s on CDBaby, and have sample songs from each CD on my MySpace site, http://www.myspace.com/leighharrisonmusic (one of them is a free download that we put up for Halloween, “Awaiting The Vampire’s Kiss,” which is a bit spooky, romantic and fun.

I look forward to meeting many of you in the “real world” at some point.  I also enjoy co-writing, and hope to be able to collaborate on some material with other songwriters, if that works out.

Regards, from Leigh

Thanks Eric, and thanks, Gary.  I’ve already found a potential song collaborator on these pages.
Glad to be here!

Leigh,
Welcome to the party! I was crusing your web home and was interested in your fellings on copyright infringement. As a professional writer, I too worry that my work has and will continue to be ripped off.
I have too many stories of talking to fans who loved their “Trucker’s Last Ride” single CD, to find out that their cd was a copy. Most of the time they don’t know it, but it still takes the bucks out of my pocket. (ouch) And I never bring it up to them because I don’t want them to think they have to pay for it twice!

And you gotta love the fact that after paying $40.00 to the copyright office, they still can’t protect your work in all cases. Use to be, you paid less, but who could find anything on the old site.....

BUT, having said all of that, I still write, and I still record, because that’s what I do!!! And it is not only in my blood, it is my life! And I even get paid sometimes. :)

Love your work, and your groovy guitars. And the pictures (through the years) are very cool.

Again welcome, and maybe we can work on some tunes together.

Later,

Colonel Robert Morris

Thanks Colonel Robert, and Darryl—or, rather, Duke—and I appreciate your kind welcoming words.  As for co-writing, I’m favorably disposed towards that, because I’ve spent most of my life as a songwriter, and (while I generally write alone) I’ve also co-written songs with friends.

Interestingly, there are nine ways to collaborate, I think, and I’ve done co-writing in many ways among those possible methods:  (1) I wrote the words, they composed the music, (2) they wrote the words, I composed the music, (3) I composed a melody, they came up with words, (4) they composed a melody, I came up with words, (5) we co-wrote the words, I composed the music, (6) I wrote the words, we both composed the music, (7) they wrote the words, we both composed the music, (8) we both wrote the words, and they composed the music, (9) we both wrote the words and music tgether.  So, there’s really a lot of ways to have fun songwriting, if you think about it!

Also, regarding copyright infringement, I am planning to post a copy of the Open Letter (that I first wrote back in May, and posted on my website www.leighharrison.com) on this website in a day or so, on a new thread, probably under the Forums, where I believe there’s a sub-file for Music Business related stuff.  That way, people will be able to post their comments, and—from your comments above—I can see that it’s already touched a sore spot with you, too!
