I would like advice on recording devices. I am not proficient in any instrument and need something that will sample instruments, or convert my voice into instruments and of course experiment and play with tracks.  I am not looking for great detail, just something that will enable me to sketch out what’s in my head so that I can then work with musicians in the studio.  An MAudio Mobilepre USB with Sonar4 has been suggested.  Or a multi-track minidisc recorder w/ a MIDI keyboard perhaps?  What do you suggest?

thanks

You might wanna give SoundForge Acid a try, or another loop based product.  It’s ideally suited for people with more imagination than chops.  You can download the demo version for free at AcidPlanet.com.  Good luck!
