I know that for non performing songwriters that usually vocal/guitar, vocal/piano will suffice, but what is some good recording equipment that won’t break the bank and will make a clear, good quality recording?

What’s your budget? I’ll give you a list of stuff after you reply with the answer.

Josh,
I would like to keep it around $1,000.  I have access right now to a 2deck tape recorder and duplicator at my church ( since I play the piano and sometimes the drums @ church) that our pastor records his messages with for radio. But I don’t know if it’s because he has such a deep voice but the sound is not always great. I bought a CD recorder a while back, but could never get it to work, so I returned and hadn’t bought anything else.
I would appreciate your advice.
Thanks and God Bless

Heather P.

Do you have a decent computer? If so, what are the specs? How much experience do you have with recording?

Buy yourself an 8-12 track DAW( digital audio workstation)
easy to use, and full effects on board
