Here is a bit of a Honky Tonk song that I wrote a few years back and thought I would post after reading John Hoskins song. I was in about the same mood when I wrote this one. Wondering where had all of the “Country Music” gone.

Another Round For The Band

Six months on the road
And I’m felling kind of low
A dingy bar and another one night stand
But we’ll sing another song
And you can sing along
If you’ll buy another round for the band

Chorus
Another round and we just might sound like Willie
Or we’ll do the songs ole Hank Jr. does
A six-pack of Lone Star will do me
Or some Jack Daniels to help me warm my blood

With life out on the road
You start to feel alone
And you just can’t wait to get back home
To a woman who loves her man
And we hope you understand
Why we need another round for the band

Chorus
Another round and we just might sound like Willie
Or we’ll do the songs ole Hank Jr. does
A six-pack of Lone Star will do me
Or some Jack Daniels to help me warm my blood

Verse 3
When we’re up here on the stage
We can see it in your face
Your getting drunk and your having fun
Well we’ve had all we can stand
And we want to join in
So won’t you buy another round for the band

Chorus
Another round and we just might sound like Willie
Or we’ll do the songs ole Hank Jr. does
A six-pack of Lone Star will do me
Or some Jack Daniels to help me warm my blood

Charles,

I’ve been wondering where those 98 Bottles of Beer on the Wall went. (I had two). Now I know. I’m putting it at the top so I won’t have to thumb thru’ so many pages next time I want to find it (and so you’ll get more responces!) I enjoy your lyrical talent! :)

Thanks Teresa. We used to play this one live and get a lot of good responses. There was a Band from New Mexico that heard it and called me up to ask if they could do it in their live show. I thought that was cool, someone else wanting to play one of my songs. lol…...........

Thanks Philip for the comments. Glad you liked it. I wrote this one 20 or so years ago and it’s still one of my favorites. I haven’t played with a band in so long though, I never get to play it anymore.

Our band had a standing joke that we played “for peanuts”.  One night someone brought each member a bag of peanuts and passed them out.  We played regularly at a campground where there was no drinking allowed so were satisfied with the peanuts and a soft drink.  But the sentiment was the same.

Thanks Val, Glad you liked it. I think I always played for peanuts too lol… That’s what my wife always told me anyway. I know I’ve never made much money at it, but I always ate well lol….

Charles,
I think my wife’s lead guitar player would love this one if he could make it a rock and roller. He’s always reminding the audience that they can feel free to send up some shots to wet their whistles.
Good job.
