Does a producer create the beat(music) for the song?

Yes a music producer can create a beat/music for a song. Producer’s have a good ear for music, and arrangements. Producers also do a lot of other things, such as put up money to record a CD. Most producers own their own studio’s to create their music.

Ok , so the songwriter can just come up with the lyrics?

Most songwriters are arrangers as well, meaning they write the melodies to the words they write. Some writers write to music while others hear the tunes while they write.

I was just wondering if I needed to create the music myself because I don’t know how to play any musical instruments, but I have a good idea about the sound of the music in my head when I write the songs.
