Hi all
I’m new here and to the songwriters business (not songwriting :-)...I’d like to see what the opinions are of these types of companies that charge for submissions, pitching, and tip sheets. I have no contacts in the music business and largely doing everything myself. So I have no objections to paying for a service to help me get in the door but would like to know if they are legitimate or am I wasting time and money?
Thanks for your comments!

Hi Craig,

it is real diffucult to “get in the door” There are 100.000end Songwriters/Musicians and Artists out there trying to do so. The reality is that itīs diffucult to find people who are willing to give a new song a listen - for free (I mean “normal” people like Freddie Frendly and so….)

A&R Managers and Companies donīt listen to the stuff. Because they get tonns of it

With compynies like Taxi…hmm… it is reported that 5 % manage it to get “into the business”. This does not mean that they have a “world wide hit”. Means, they can use a song in a B-Movie, in a short Spot, as an Album track of an unknown Artists…

So, you should ask yourself. Is your stuff good enough to be one of this lucky 5 %?

Checking one forum mentioned, you get a feeling that some who sign up there aren’t prepared for rejection or don’t have enough material ready or in the works to submit to the different requesting categories. It makes for some interesting reading though. The 5% figure of members having success sounds right.

Hi,

I’m a music composer and producer. I also work in the Music industry (Film, Records, TV, Ads etc..)

If you have an access to one of those sites I would like to give you an access to another one with all the contacts of Film Industry (I got it with my Cannes Film Market accred.  ) to compose music for pictures….

tell me if you can be interested. For my part I have tried SQ and MyHitOnline..I have received one positive return from Interscope Records (using myhitonline) but the A&R Staff has finaly passed on the track..

Best,
Romain..
