“Yesterday”
Words/music written by S. LeeAndrew Bray (BMI)

Verse One
There were blue eyes, long nights, slow kisses, goodbyes
Spring break, the first date, Ferris wheel and a funnel cake
Romance, slow dance, last chance to take a chance
I remember…

Chorus
You and me wild and free moonlight on the beach
A blanket and a bottle of red wine
I had to leave those palm trees headed home to Tennessee
With sweet dreams of you on my mind

Verse Two
Now yesterday fades away tomorrow’s just another day
We watched the moon fade out of sight
Kissing and hugging, living, laughing, and loving
A memory is all that we’ve left behind
I can’t forget…

Chorus
You and me wild and free moonlight on the beach
A blanket and a bottle of red wine
I had to leave those palm trees headed home to Tennessee
With sweet dreams of you on my mind

Bridge
There’s a picture hanging on the wall
Down the hall beside of my bed
If a picture is worth a thousand words
Then there’s a thousand words left unsaid

Chorus

Hope you’re well, LeeAndrew…and the rest of our troops too.

About the song:

I like about 85% of it, but I’m thinkin’ you must have grappled with what title to give this, because you didn’t use the hook in the title. If it were me, I’d make “You On My Mind” the hook, and reinforce the hell out of it. The Yesterday thing, although I understand where you’re comin’ from with it—isn’t workin’ as the hook, and there’s no reinforcement of it, or repetition to speak of. This could be a killer good tune if you address these observations; it’s really good now…just that it’s not the hook makin’ it kick b u t t.

OOHRAH!

Hell;o… Lee ..it;s good to see ya,,Dude :)... I;m kinda leaning towards what James says…
but I;m gonna spin my thoughts..a lil different,,,I agree That Another Title Would…
be an welcome deviation from the norm,,’‘like a cliche’‘..Although this this case scenario
has been played a million times…;o ‘’ Lee you have the power as an artist/composer/writer
etc..to spin your own production which would ‘‘make a world of difference with this’‘
Piece’’ Yesterday’‘....

***** you know my prays are with you Lee….
        Take care;o

JD,

I’m well brother, just lying low until after these elections, etc. Thanks for the comments…I noted them above…I did struggle with the title because I have another song with the title “On His Mind” and I wanted something a little bit different. But “On His Mind” is a gospel song so this one will end up working with the title “On My Mind”...lol…I wanted to give this song a little bit of a pop country feel for the top 40 style writing that it is…a care free, wind in my hair feel instead of down and depressed, tear in my beer stone cold country style.
There’s nothing wrong with that type of song either, I just wanted something different…know what I mean?

Joe,

Man, I really appreciate your comments a whole lot…I don’t think I’ve ever heard from you before…I can’t believe how much you understand what I’m doing musically…I’m trying more to be a stay at home songwriter, part time soldier, and a dad instead of trying to make it big as a n artist…I’m not convinced that I have what it takes to make it in that cut throat industry…lol…who is Fred Vail? Do you know him personally? I look forward to seeing more of your thoughts and ideas on my music…be good and nice to meet you!!

Shirl,

Thanks for all of your comments and as always…I really appreciate your time and your prayers. I’ll be back home soon and I can’t wait to hold my newborn baby and spend much needed time with my family. This has been a long year and a half away from home…lol…It’s almost over though…just a few more months…I hope they fly by too!!

Your friend,

-LeeAndrew

i don’t personally know him yet but my band and i have talked to him over the phone and i’ve checked up on him to make sure he was legit.  of course i already told you he owns treasure isle recorders out of nashville he works with big time guys etc etc etc.  he sells recording packages starting at about 28,000 grand and upwards he knows that you don’t have that kind of money and if he thinks your good enough he will help you out.  he talked to my band and i was straight with him told him he wouldn’t be talking with us if he didn’t think we had any talent and not to waste my time or his time.  but 28000 grand gets you a four song demo with studio musicians if you want.  then 50000 grand gets you a full album, shown through the test markets, then if the test markets do good he shops labels for you which he can do in nashville us he has got to go to l.a. or n.y. so it will cost us a little bit more.  you can also look up his talent scout lt. bobby ross you can google him on the net.  so there you have it.  i just see and hear so much talent from you and i think it would be a waste if you didn’t let the world hear it.  the way i look at it as long as i make enough money performing to support myself comfortably i will be happy and still love performing whether i get paid or not but the dream never dies does it.
