With all respect I don’t think you know what you are talking about. Firstly, paranoia is a mental disorder so it comes from inside not from a diagnosis. If a Dr. never examined me but I was paranoid then what does it matter if a Dr. examined me or not. If I am acting paranoid then I’m paranoid on it’s face whether a Dr. examined me or not. In addition, suppose a Dr. diagnosed me as paranoid but I was fooling him by telling what he wanted to hear as far as the symptoms of paranoia are concerned, just because he made that diagnosis doesn’t make me paranoid. Secondly, paranoia can very well be a dark and threatening to the person who has that illness. I know that for a fact because of someone I know that has that illness. So, I’m sorry to say you’re incorrect in you conclusions all all counts including the title.

Someone who suffers from paranoia does NOT say “I’m paranoid”, instead he thinks, feels, and says that he’s beeing followed, being spied on, being threatened etc. There is a difference to other kinds of schizophrenia where people actually conceive that the voices they keep hearing are not actually there, they can’t help hearing them but they know they are their own creations.

What I actually meant with regard to the song is, that if you meant to tell it from the inside - from the perspective of the person who suffers from paranoia - then you should avoid formal, descriptive terms but stick to the emotions and perceptions of that very person. If the song is supposed to describe someone else, then it’s okay to describe the symptoms from an outside perspective and to use descriptive terms.

But it’s your lyrics, none of my business, anyway.

You’re wrong again. There are many people that know they are paanoid. Remember, the people who go to the Dr. and are told that they are parnoid. Besides being diaganoised they’re are many people that know they are paranoid withoit going to a Dr. Just ask most people who smoked pot and hosts of others. You are just making statements of opinions.

As I said - your song, none of my business. And maybe you’re right: it’s 30 years since I’ve studied psychology, and 20 years since I’ve worked with drug abusers. Times change - maybe ;-)
