Hey LeeAndrew - I really appreciate you checking this piece out, always good to see you, too.  I hit on a lot of what you’ve shared in my responses to J.D. and Tom Solanto, so you might want to check those out.  The piece really isn’t about 1972, but rather being 4 years old - it’s about innocence, and to me, that transcends cultural/temporal references.  I do understand what you’re saying and I don’t disagree with it, though.  I could have picked a title/hook that connected with the underlying theme in a more obvious way…but with this particular thematic vehicle, that’s been done so much, I just hated to do it again lol, so I went with something more subtle that required a bit of digging - perhaps too much?  :-)  Thinking about what everybody has said here, the piece clearly needs to be worked on a tad more…I think the answer is rewriting the bridge - the bridge I went with was pretty much the stereo-typical “one-size-fits-all/easy-fit”...having read these posts, though, I’m feeling something a bit more meaningful now, though.  Thanks for taking the time to check it out - sure is good seeing you around, too :-)

Martin - that’s okay, the 80’s had its highpoints too - one of which was clearly you :-)  I looked up that James Blunt piece and liked it…here’s the YouTube video - it’s got over 12,000,000 hits, so I do appreciate that this piece reminded you of it :-)

You know, for some reason, another piece that sort of reminds me of this is Bryan Adams classic “Summer of ‘69”

Hang tight and have a great night over there, my friend.

Darlene!  Good seeing you in the strand - is Florida treating you okay these days?  Yeah…I’ve got pretty extensive “memory banks” lol Between what’s happening these days and everything that’s happened “once upon another time,” there’s a seemingly endless array of stuff and topics to tap into, eh?  I’m glad that you liked this piece - I had a good time sinking my teeth into it…after reading and contemplating some of the posts in the strand, I think I’ll end up rewriting the bridge…that’s okay, I really wasn’t ready to be done with this one anyway - 1972 was a fun year, I can always go back there for a little bit longer :-)

Elaine - VERY good to see you around tonight :-)  Thanks for checking this one out - I’ve very glad that it brings back good vibrations for you…childhood only comes around once and it’s best reminded well, I think.  And I hope that everybody can remember being 4 and 5 and 6, especially if they were good years…once I read a quote that went something along the lines of, “God gives us memories so that we can have roses in December.”  I really do believe that, too.  Hang tight and have a real good evening over there.
