Hello, long time no see. A FAWM/RPM tune. Just a homage to a Van Morrison or The Band type song. But, if you gonna steal, might as well steal from the best. I’ve gone through about three iterations on the last stanza—and I am still not there yet. I think the idea I have is OK, just can’t get it to sing “right” yet.

Ole Stomping Ground
(c) Emmrich 2010
With the radio playing
and the saxophones wailing
it was 1974
down at the beach
with the friends all around
we were always looking
for something more
I don’t know how
many of us found it
I guess I never took a poll
I gotta say
we got what we got
and it was better
than nothing at all
(chorus)
I’m going back down
to that ole stomping ground
I wonder who’ll be around
probably no one I’ll remember
and not a soul will know me
but I’m going back down
to that ole stomping ground
(guitar solo)
(sax solo!)
I thought it would be so good
going by the old neighborhood
and say goodbye one more time
everything looks kinda different,
the old replaced by the new
I guess I don’t really mind, cause
I’ve done a bit of changing, too
(chorus again)
