Originally, I had written this lyric for another site and one of the other members orchastrated a genre challenge to any and all takers.  I ended up with 11 different songs with this one lyric (and many of them amazing).

This is a metal version put together by a member of a metal band in the Netherlands “Sapient”.  The version I did was a little more country, but this was one of the versions that completely blew mine out of the water :-)

This is a jug-band version done by another artist “Fuzzy” (complete with off-key vocals, wash-board, and kazoo)  :-)

This is a Bossa/Smooth Jazz version done by “TimmyRiordan”

Here’s a country version done by TCElliott (complete with countryfied accent)

Here’s a Progressive Rock version done by “Swampjaw” (his daughter came in while he was recording and wanted to do the vocals)  :-)

Hard Rock wasn’t going to be left out when the group “The Raygun Girls” did this version

Here’s a Lou Reed version done by “MaxVanremmerden”

The industrial Stomp version was well played by the infamous “JohnnieGrunge”

The guy who started the genre challenge “Errol” of the group “Debs and Errol” did this wonderful piano ballad

The beautiful “Darciestrutt” did this version on banjo and did the harmonized vocals

I did this country version on video (because I have no way to record any other way)

Here’s the original lyric.  Each other artist had to do a little adaptation to get it to flow with the music in their own heads.  This gives you all a chance to see that just because you hear a melody in your own head doesn’t mean that the next person that reads the lyric will hear the same thing ... but you get the picture ...

Dog’s Messin’ With A Skunk Again

(Verse)
Sittin’ on the couch, watchin’ a movie on the TV
On a cool February eve
Had to turn it down, there was a sound outside
I couldn’t hear it o’er the vee
Like a growlin’ and a barkin’
There must have been one Hell of a fight
So I threw on my boots
And headed into the night
Wish I’d stayed where I had been
Dog’s messin’ with a skunk again

(Chorus)
You know he never learns his lesson
There’s no way to tone it down
He foams at the mouth
Rubs his face on the ground
Ain’t no way to win
He’s messin’ with a skunk again

(Verse)
I take him in the bathtub, wash the oil out the fur
I’ll use whatever I can find
I’ll mix up buttermilk, orange juice, canned tomatoes
Arm-n-hammer, and hydrogen peroxide
But no matter how much smell
You wash on down the pipes
There’s always plenty left
To smell for a fortnight
Wish I’d stayed where I had been
Dog’s was messin’ with a skunk again

(Chorus)
You know he never learns his lesson
There’s no way to tone it down
He foams at the mouth
Rubs his face on the ground
Ain’t no way to win
He’s messin’ with a skunk again

(Verse)
Had to set up the pet gates, move his bowl outside
And cover the bed and couch
Can’t take the chance that he might jump up
Cause you can’t just wash it out
I’m afraid it’s just the way he is
It happens every spring
When the critters get all twitter-pated
You know he’ll snap at anything
Wish I’d stayed there on the couch
Dog’s was messin’ with a skunk again

(Chorus)
You’d think he’d learn his lesson
There’s no way to tone it down
He’ll foam at the mouth
Rub his burnin’ eyes on the ground
Ain’t no way to win
He’s messin’ with a skunk again
