1WORD

Happy new year y’all :)

https://www.soundclick.com/html5/v3/player.cfm?type=single&songid=13631399&q=hi&newref=1

no other word can come first
no lie or misperception
like the miracle of birth
the truth can’t change direction
many words never matter
nothing new under the sun
just wailing in the clatter
till the end foretold to come

one word from the beginning
one word a gift so devine
one word spoke of creation
one word spoke the end of time
and it’s time, time, time….. it’s time

committed by principle
a duty to maintain course
no option to surrender
speaking victory foreword
driven by understanding
that silence is for cowards
the battle is deafening
a relentless war of words

it’s the word worth waiting for
the word understood too late
it’s the word that became flesh
the word that reveals our fate

desperate for words to believe
to add solace to the fray
to quiet the confusion
and conclude a darkened day
but peace has been forsaken
and logic has led astray
trade silence for compassion
when there’s nothing left to say

one word from the beginning
one word a gift so devine
one word spoke of creation
one word spoke the end of time
and it’s time, time, time….. it’s time

Tony! Happy new year to you too. I was wondering where you’d got to. How ya doin?

I think the centerpiece of this song is the chorus. Absolutely LOVE that. So very cool. That echo is perfection. I found myself wishing there were more than two.

Hey Jenn….... oh, I’ve been around ;) my kid got me hooked on SKYRIM lol…..
Thanks for the listen! That echo effect is just one voice actually, I suppose I could double it…...
You may find this interesting, every line of the song has 7 syllables; the first and last verses plus
the chorus equal 70 words; and the song totals out at 84 measures which is 7X12. Originally
I tried to do the song in 3/4 time but it was just too weird :)

70? Was that by design?

SKYRIM? A video game won out over making music? TONY!!!! I’m aghast! Appalled E-ven. {in my best Snagglepus voice}

I had a go at your 3/4 time. Yeah. Weird for sure. It became a kind of syncopated affair.

When I said “two” I didn’t mean people on the echo, I meant the chorus. It’s so neat, I’d like to hear it more than twice.  ;-)

Tony, you’re back!

I really like this and agree with Jen that the chorus is the best part. I love the drums. It’s an unusual song. Obviously Christian, but doesn’t fit the commercial Christian rock mold because it requires a bit more thought and less mindless swaying.

There’s a lot to interest the listener and keep the brain busy, both musically and in the lyrics. This is one of your best, I think.

Superbly realised…love those keys/synth whatever bubbling away underneath everything.
I’m getting some Bowie in the vocal….have I already said this about something of yours?
Not what I’d normally listen to now I’m grey but done with a lot of class.
My only slight nit were the centered(?) toms - I’m listening on headphones - but maybe that’s exactly how you wanted them to be and you’re making a much better sound than me so…....

Good stuff.

Well this is actually high praise Ian, I’ve always been quite impressed with YOUR skills!! I just
treated myself to a ‘KORG Kross’ for Christmass and am now learning a bit about midi and
sequencing. Lots of fun, thanks!! :)

A little less and cleaner guitar, more clarity on that little stuff “Bubbling” in the background, some
minor EQing… now maybe that one effected tom makes more sense lol. I always highly recommend
headphones! Thanks Ian :)

Sounding great Tony. Still loving that chorus. Love that guitar at 2.15. Best lyric…“trade silence for compassion when there‚Äôs nothing left to say.” Deep. Nice.

very cool track. I really like the base and organ together at the beginning, would be interesting to have a moment in the song where you come back to that with just those two playing.
