Brandon, I hear some nice creativity here in the arrangements of both Songs.

But when a singer is singing that is the featured part of a Song. That’s the part ALL the rest of the arrangement is supporting. So that’s the part you want the listener to hear most easily. Most listeners will encounter your music by hearing it. They won’t have a video laying out the Lyric. You don’t want the guitarist taking a solo drowning out the vocalist. The drummer shouldn’t be snapping in pops of nuance that obliterate strategic words/notes in the Song’s Melody.

Your vocals are so buried I can barely hear them, and can’t understand the words. If the delivery is going to be so ‘low key’, delivered in such intimate tone and volume, then everything else has to lay back, supporting, not overwhelming the vocal. About 90% of people can’t carry a tune, and can’t relate much to the qualities of instrumental performance, or the skills demanded, but most of them can relate to the meaning of the words and the Melody to which the words are sung. So a composition has to get the words to them. The singer has to ‘deliver’ it. The production has to deliver it. They can’t come and get it. It has to be delivered.

Get your vocals up out of the mud and you might have something here. Again, the arrangement has a lot of creative appeal to me.

There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? http://www.garyeandrews.com
