They Want to Hear a Love Song

They want to hear a love song
Tell me will it play

They want to hear a love song
To take the pain away

They want to hear a love song
And really feel the sound

They want to hear a love song
And dance round and round

Start it off with a gentle
A gentle timed beat
Wait a minute and watch
The people move their feet
Slow it down with back-beat
Turn up the bass
Soon enough they will be dancing
Dancing face to face

They want to hear a love song
Tell me will it play

They want to hear a love song
To take the pain away

They want to hear a love song
And really feel the sound

They want to hear a love song
And dance round and round

There is a touch of magic
In the way we play
Sent down from the heavens
It never goes away
It takes away the worry
It takes away the fear
When it has heart and soul
The magic reappears

They want to hear a love song
Tell me will it play

They want to hear a love song
To take the pain away

They want to hear a love song
And feel the music rise

They want to see a love song
In each others’ eyes

They want to see a love song
In each others’ eyes

OK, now we’re talkin’! Simple, universally relatable…..... this could easily be a great melody driven
hit! I’m thinking something with a beat that you could slow or fast dance to! :)

I’m giving this the thumbs up too. Had a warm feeling and with the right music it should leave a pleasant taste in the ear - so to speak!

Write what you like - and like what you write.

I think it’s a great lyric of this kind: concise, to the point, tells the story in pictures rather than words. Geat job.

One minor complaint: ‘Dry away those tears’: Done to death, and the level of the song is way higher than that. Could you rethink that 1 line?

How about varying the last chorus?

They want to hear a love song
Tell me will it play

They want to hear a love song
To take the pain away

They want to hear a love song
And feel the music rise

And they want to see a love song
In each others’ eyes

Joel, it is ever comes to that of course….unless, you would prefer something else like sea shells, wampum, or a few stock certificates from Enron…

Guy, first thank you for taking the time to create your music vision here. I must say, I like it very much. My version is a bit more ‘sweethearts of the rodeo” like.  With this said, there is room for both,. Open to collaboration and feedback, always…

Cheers

Sorry for such a late response but I am new to the boards and catching up on different forum post. My knowledge on writing is limited but one of the first things that gets my attention is an interesting title. The title ” They Want To Hear A love Song” did draw my interest. The lyrics are very unique . As mentioned earlier in this thread it is something that people can relate to. It does not just describe another relationship dealing with love but the elements that lead to it ” Music, song dancing, closeness”. That is what makes it unique in my eyes. Additionally. I listened to the melody tracks you attached and I could hear this song complimenting different Genres. What I mean by this is I could hear it with a slower tempo played by nothing but a guitar and vocal, I could hear it at a faster tempo with drums and electric guitars, and in the original tempo recorded. Sorry for the paragraph of opinions I wrote….to paraphrase ” I like it!”.

” I’m just a guy with a Guitar”
