Hi all,

Came up with this song idea and would appreciate feedback before I continue and write lyrics.

Wahoo!! It’s brilliant Jonathan. Eminently singable—had me singing before it was over. So many options for a vocal melody on this one. What is the song going to be about?

In terms of the structure, the only thing I can think that would make it even more awesome would be a second guitar playing above it all in a few places, but it might pay to get your lyrics locked in first so that the vocals and lead guitar don’t clash.

I listened to this twice. It’s really good. Love the energy of the thing.

Hi there,

Thanks for the feedback.  Have some initial ideas for lyrics - recorded them quickly.  Not my best performance and still not 100% happy.  Feedback welcome:

FEARLESS UNAFRAID
(Words by Jonathan Linton, Music by Jonathan Linton)
A leap of faith I take
It’s too late
To procrastinate
Dreams and fears are packed
Wheels hit tarmac
There’s no going back

One foot, in front of the other
There’s a whole world to discover

Future’s not certain for me
But I move on
Fearless unfraid
Master of my destiny
So I move on
Fearless unfraid

I’m movin’ on, fearless unfraid
I’m movin’ on, fearless unfraid
I’m movin’ on, fearless unfraid
I’m movin’ on….fearless….un…afraid

Like Doctor Livingstone
I face the unknown
Leave the comfort zone
Courage that cannot fade
I’m not afraid
Of the choice I made

One foot, infront of the other
There’s a whole world to discover

Future’s not certain for me
But I move on
Fearless unfraid
Master of my destiny
So I move on
Fearless unfraid

I’m movin’ on, fearless unfraid
I’m movin’ on, fearless unfraid
I’m movin’ on, fearless unfraid
I’m movin’ on….fearless….un…afraid

Cool.

My sense is that in some places “fearless, unafraid” is too much. For instance, in the chorus I think a simple “fearless” would actually have more impact. It would give the chorus room to breath in the song and make it more singable for your audience to sing along (let’s face it, that’s the ultimate, right to have people wanting to sing along?). I think sometimes we try to pack too many syllables in when really a simple sustain of a note is all that’s needed.

So instead, you you could sing…

Future’s not certain for me
But I move on
Feeeeearleeeeeeess [sustaining the vowels, not the consonants]
Master of my destiny
So I move on
Feeeeearleeeeeeess

You might say “I’m feeearleeess” as a variation in one of the choruses or in the last line of each chorus.

Sounding good, Jonathan.
