http://www.taxi.com I just wanted to see what TAXI was looking for right now.

By signing up for daily alerts you get emails detailing what kind of recordings they’re looking for. You have to be a member of course to submit, but if you have recording capabilities and are creating tracks of any kind there may be a market for your product.

Here’s one of their emails:

Dear Passengers,
Got some Adventure Instrumental Cues for a great Music Library or Pop Ballads for a Major Label Artist? Scroll down to see the deadlines (which are pretty soon) and the details you need to make great pitches!

FANTASY, ADVENTURE-based ORCHESTRAL INSTRUMENTALS CUES are needed by a very successful Music Library with a very lengthy and impressive list of great placements in Film and TV. They’re searching for Mid-To-Up Tempo Instrumentals Cues that fall within the general stylistic ballpark of the following references that we got from them:
“Ice Dance” by Danny Elfman
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” by by James Newton Howard
“Hedwig’s Theme-Harry Potter” by John Williams
Please send Instrumental Cues that convey a magical and adventurous style, vibe, and feel. Your instrumentation should sound authentic, like a believable orchestra, played by real humans. Having great sounding Orchestral samples, some minimal magical, fantasy sounding ear candy, and top-notch production should give you an added edge. Material that sounds stiff, synthetic, or MIDI-driven will not work for this pitch.
Quoting The Library:  “Absolute highest quality sample libraries only - we’re often pitching our music for excellent high end opportunities, so it’ll need to be excellently produced and mixed to sound like a real orchestra. Bad or unconvincing midi sounds when replicating live instruments will result in a track being rejected regardless how good the writing is.”
Submissions should be at least two-minutes long (give or take), with non-faded, buttoned endings with a natural decay/ring out. Do NOT copy the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for texture, tone, and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (Great sounding home recordings are fine).
This company offers an EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal, and an 80/20 split in the Writer’s favor for any applicable download fees by clients from their Library! Because this is an Exclusive deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any other Libraries or Catalogs. You’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD. All Submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis- No Full Critiques. Please submit 1-3 Songs no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Monday, July 17th, 2017. TAXI #Y170717FO

COMPELLING POP BALLADS with Female Vocals are needed by a Major Record Label A&R Executive for a newly signed artist who’s currently working with Top Producers on her debut album. They’re looking for great, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that would appeal to the fans of acts and songs like:
“Set Fire to the Rain” by Adele
“Chandelier” by Sia
“Stay” by Rihanna ft. Mikky Ekko
Please submit emotionally powerful Ballads with a fresh, modern melody and a super-captivating chorus that sounds like a hit the minute you first hear it. Instrumentation can be as a simple as an acoustic guitar/vocal or piano/vocal, or you can go bigger and land somewhere in the middle lane as long as your song is well crafted and your production sounds like it could be on the today’s charts. You’d be wise to have a really solid vocal performance to help get the label and artist excited about cutting your song. Your recording quality (even for stripped-down demos) needs to be clean, clear, well balanced, and good enough to represent your song well. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Tuesday, July 11th, 2017. TAXI #S170711PB

“...must own or control your Master and Copyright…” Interesting.

That might mean they can’t wait while you Register your Copyright, which could take 84 days, in my experience, to get confirmation back, although Registration is established the day the Library of Congress Register of Copyrights receives your application.

And they won’t want to wait while you figure out what your Master is and whether you own it or the Producer owns it. Educate yourself if you’re making the transition from hobbyist, creative artist, to company marketing product. TAXI may be an opportunity for you.
