Tanya Tucker debuts new tribute to Glen Campbell

With the passing of Glen Campbell I’m struck by the strategic importance of Songwriters as the suppliers of the vehicles for talent. I’m not aware of Glen’s writing, if indeed he wrote Songs. Elvis sang hundreds and never wrote one. Glen Campbell’s talents playing guitar and singing were much sought after over the years, with hundreds of the hits you know featuring him without much public awareness that’s who is playing and singing behind the artist. He found Jimmy Webb, Songwriter, and hit the market running with “By The Time I Get To Phoenix”, the first music video I ever saw. Jimmy Webb supplied “Wichita Lineman” and another Song, both of which enabled Glen to showcase original talent and garnering a TV show that he said, “After the TV show it didn’t matter what I sang. Everything sold.” (National Public Radio, “Fresh Air with Terry Gross”.) Another writer (Reese?) supplied “Rhinestone Cowboy”.

Tanya Tucker debuted with “Delta Dawn”, at the age of 14. She met and married Campbell, and has co-written this new tribute.

Songwriter101 Member Fran Williams turned me on to the Nashville Country Club, which emailed information on a CMA Fest Special showing sometime today, August 11, 2017. Fans of the country market should be well-pleased.

Tanya Tucker debuts new tribute to Glen Campbell

TanyaTucker 2017 In recent years, groundbreaking country music icon Tanya Tucker has been quietly writing and recording new music while coping with a wave of emotions surrounding Glen Campbell’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease. While their relationship and breakup made headlines years ago, Tucker channeled her heartfelt feelings for Campbell in a new song titled “Forever Loving You.” A portion of the proceeds from “Forever Loving You” will benefit Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, a non-profit organization which provides programs and services for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers, as well as funds research towards a cure for Alzheimer’s.

Tanya Tucker statement on passing of Glen Campbell:

“I’m just devastated. Absolutely devastated. It’s been so hard these past several years knowing what he’s been going through. My heart just breaks. Glen and I shared some incredible, precious memories together for a long time. There were some ups and downs and, of course, all the downs were played out in the press. We both got past all that. Forgiveness is a wonderful thing. It’s why I’m releasing “Forever Loving You” in memory of Glen and for all of those who are losing or have lost someone they love. I’ll forever love you, Glen.”

Tucker co-wrote “Forever Loving You” with Michael Lynn Rogers and Rusty Crowe, a Tennessee State Senator who co-sponsored the Campbell/Falk Act. The Tennessee law protects communication rights for people who’ve become wards of the state and those who have conservators over their financial and living situations.
