You Don’t have to say it, no no no
cause everyone can tell that your hearts not well
you don’t have to explain, no no no
cause everyone can see that you’re insane

let it go, face the dawn, it’s what they told you
but what about all the ones holding on

There is some interesting Melodic vocalization, but I have no idea what the Lyric might be. I didn’t get a single word. There doesn’t seem to be a change of dynamics distinguishing a Chorus, or THE Hook/title line.

Now listening to “Crawling”. Enjoying the Rhythm and Melodic vocalization, harmony, but, again, no idea what you’re singing. Lead break should be polished and executed identically each time it’s played. Second listen.

“Lights Down Low”. I can make out the title line. That’s all. I like the ‘feel’ of these compositions but I can’t ‘hear’ them. Second listen.

“The World I Made”. Get those vocals up front, clarified. These Songs could work.

“Let It Go”. That’s the first one again, I think. It has appeal, but the guitar smothers the vocal, volume-wise. You may not be enunciating well too. I don’t know because the vocal is buried.

All the Songs had an appeal to me. And they vary, eclectic. I like that. When there is a singer communicating words all else is ‘arrangement’ and should support and not drown the vocal.

There will always be another song to be written. Someone will write it. Why not you? http://www.garyeandrews.com

I share Gary’s frustration. I have a feeling there might well be a good song lurking somewhere under the confused sound you have posted. I think you need to afford it a little more respect, take the time to record it a just little bit better - doesn’t have to be polished to perfection - and you might get some more feedback.

thanks for the replies & feedback.
It is a VERY rough recording. I was writing as I was recording, did just about everything in one take. I’ll post a cleaned up version in the next few days.

Yup. I agree with Gary and Gavin, it definitely needs to be more clearly recorded with the vocals more out front. That said, I definitely hear the seeds of a really cool song in there. To me it seems like a marriage between The Beatles and The Black Keys. When I say TBK, I’m not meaning their blues stuff, but more along the lines of their song, “Turn Blue,” especially around the lines “cause everyone can see that you’re not well.” Weird things to marry, but I think it works. Look forward to hearing mach 2.

You don’t have to say it
No no no
Cause everyone can tell
That your hearts not well
And you don’t have to explain
No no no
Cause everyone can see
That you’re insane
Let it go, face the dawn, it’s what they told you
But what about all the ones holding on
Well they don’t have to say it
No no no
Cause everyone can tell
We made out hell
And no one has to say it
No no no
Cause everyone can see your misery
Let it go, face the dawn, it’s what they told you
But what about all the ones who can’t move on
Well you don’t have to say it
No no no
Oh cause everyone can tell
That your hearts not well
Let it go, Face the dawn, it’s what they told you
