Broadcast Stream

If you have a large inventory of original songs, have you considered creating an online broadcast for yourself?  It’s a very simple process.

Mine costs about three bucks a month, with no other charges or fees.  I have 52 tracks rotating right now and could add more.  You can set it up to DJ live or let an AutoDJ function keep playing it around the clock.  I recorded my own breaks to play after every three songs.

If nothing else, it’s a fun thing to do.

Thanks for sampling it.

I’ve been adding more tracks, instrumental versions of my songs, and even some of my radio comedy production from years ago to provide variety.  There are 100 .mp3 files in all - not counting the station IDs.

Now that I’m no longer writing songs, I seem to be consumed by the urge to validate all the work I did by creating an online presence for “Clay” that people can discover.

My stream, although not yet advertised, has already been accessed by listeners in nine countries.  The link is about to be posted in about 15 directories, so I expect to reach more people soon.

I have 82 songs plus a number of comedy elements rotating 24/7.  At least now I know that my stuff is being heard.

Online radio has turned out to be an easy and inexpensive way to showcase my songs.

I pay under four bucks a month to maintain my stream, and it cost nothing to set it up.  I have about 100 songs in rotation.  So far, I’ve logged 197 listeners in 25 countries.

I received this yesterday as a direct result of having the online radio stream:

“Hi, Clay… I have been listening to some of your music again. You have a specific style that I have never run across before and probably will not again in my lifetime. I love your music and your songs. However, due to the screwy world of digital music we have found ourselves in, I don’t have a place to grab your music from.  It’s earthy and with lyrics made of gold. Your vocals make the music real and organic and super cool. I want to retain your legacy in the NashvilleEar.com. If you would be so kind as to show me where I can grab a group of your songs in MP3 format I would be appreciative. If you have songs on your computer, please send me your best 6 to 8 songs to (email address deleted) Thanks, Clay.  I want to add you on http://www.NashvilleEar.com in the songwriter section. Have a super great Merry Christmas, ole friend.”

Hi Ken,

A couple questions, are you Clay Reston? I’m confused.

Is there a feature that allows the title of each song to be displayed as it is playing? I think it would be a plus if a listener knew the titles so they could go buy the ones they like???

Looks like you can set up all the links you like, to itunes or your Facebook or personal page or CDbaby or what have you? Yes?

Will the site accept wav files?

I presume they’re doing all the hosting?

This seems to be a pretty good idea as it allows people the free music everyone wants yet they can’t just take it.

Pretty good song writing and thanks for the idea!!!!!!!!

Hi Ken,

A couple questions, are you Clay Reston? I’m confused.

Yes, I use the name Clay Reston for my songs and books.

Is there a feature that allows the title of each song to be displayed as it is playing? I think it would be a plus if a listener knew the titles so they could go buy the ones they like???

I listen with the TuneIn Radio smartphone app, and it does display the titles.

Looks like you can set up all the links you like, to itunes or your Facebook or personal page or CDbaby or what have you? Yes?

I set up a dedicated Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Clay-Reston-Online-Radio-128426124492680/) and post my links there.

Will the site accept wav files?

The instructions say that in most cases only mp3 files are compatible.

I presume they’re doing all the hosting?

Yes.  They do the hosting, and you configure a function called AutoDJ to program and manage your broadcast.  It’s very easy and user-friendly. The pricing is based upon how many listeners you have and how much bandwidth you use.  I pay about four bucks a month, which allows for 300 listeners.  And the customer service is excellent.  Here’s the provider I use:  https://shoutca.st
