Texas Twister

Hi Y’all

This is a song that I wrote in summer 2017, it was one of those that I could not think of a melody nor lyric, so it sat there doing nothing.

I then early this year I had a rare spark of inspiration, I thought it sounded like a ‘50 High School film song, so I cobbled some lyrics together in that mood, did a demo, of course an English bloke singing didn’t fit.

I was fortunate to collaborate with a Texan singer, who kindly helped. Thanks to her.

Hope you like it….Let me know what you think

I just want to say that since i have been a part of this forum, your comments have really inspired and helped me get a focus, thanks VERY MUCH, your frankness and honesty are so valuable.

Fun song! Solid structure n concept!
I think your singer would do better if you moved this up to F or G though :)

Thanks Japov, I can do something with it, I also think it should be at least 5 bpm faster…

No worries Rich, your track has a good vibe mate. Yes, that is me in the pic. Mostly I play drums but have branched out now to also spend time on guitar and vocals.

I work away from home (1000 miles away) in mining construction in North Western Australia so access to decent recording equipment is minimal. My only tool other than my instruments is a trusty iPhone that is all I am recording on. Some racks is just acoustic and vocal, some I have recorded the guitar and vocal, then played it back through the amp and recorded the drums over the top. I have posted some tracks on the forum so check them out if you have time.

Keep on Rockin!!!

Good one, Rich. I really enjoyed this one. Have you thought of maybe beefing up the backing vocals a little to give it a fuller sound where they chime in?

Hi Gavin, good idea.

I’ll see what I can do… (this was BRUTE to mix) 53 tracks!!! incl submix busses and aux busses, just the Yeahs’ were 5 tracks, the huh were another 5)

I know it’s my own fault and I could have bounced a load down, but I never really like to do that to early.

Thanks for listening, it still isn’t quite right to my ears, if you go to my SC and listen to co-noshessness, that was the demo and I think that has something that Twister master lacks. the answer might lie in the over production…
